Multilingualism as a source of knowledge and creativity

Thinking in one language and then speaking in another: surely almost everyone in our VU community goes through that type of translation process every day. Despite the numerous mother tongues in which students, staff and administrators think and dream, we usually talk to each other in Dutch and English. These are our contact languages, both in everyday interactions on campus and in teaching and scholarship.
