The designation 'Top Program' indicates that the respective programs belong to the top tier of Dutch academic education. This year, at VU, the bachelor programmes in Biology, Earth Sciences, Medicine, Greek and Latin Language and Culture, Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and Sociology have received this designation. Additionally, the Liberal Arts and Sciences bachelor's program, offered jointly by VU and Amsterdam University College, maintains the highest rating, as it did last year.
Engineering and Design
A newcomer to the 'Top Programs' list is the Creative Technology bachelor programme. Although the University of Twente's educational program has only been offered at VU since September of this academic year, it has earned the designation of 'Top Program' at the University of Twente. The programs are offered simultaneously by both universities.
"It's an achievement we can be proud of—a recognition for our teachers who stand in the lecture hall every day with great dedication and commitment," says Jacqueline van Muijlwijk, Chief Education Officer at VU.
As an institution, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam ranks fifth this year with the same institutional score as the previous year. VU Amsterdam particularly excels in areas such as earth and environment.
Independent Assessment
The Keuzegids Universiteiten is an independent guide that annually evaluates bachelor programs and universities. The guide's assessment is largely based on the results of the National Student Survey, measuring aspects such as content quality, teachers, assessment, career preparation, and atmosphere.
