Arie den Boef appointed as Fellow of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering

8 November 2023
Professor of Metrology and Nanolithography Arie den Boef, along with 61 other leading experts, has been appointed as an 'inaugural fellow' by the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE). The goal of the NAE is to promote technological innovation for urgent societal issues, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for everyone.

Connecting Industry and the Academic World
In addition to his role as a professor, Den Boef is also a fellow at ASML and works at ARCNL. Through these various roles, he excels at bridging the gap between the industry and the academic world. "The Netherlands Academy of Engineering aims to connect technology and science to create societal and economic value," he stated on the ARCNL website. "I am pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to this with the experiences I have gained over the years."

Fellows
The 62 experts come from various backgrounds, including educational institutions, technical sciences, companies, and startups. They work in different fields, such as the tech sector, ICT, healthcare, energy, water management, and the food industry. Starting next year, NAE will select 10 new Fellows annually.

Inauguration
The formal inauguration of these experts is scheduled for Monday, November 13th, at De Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague. During this festive event, speeches will be given by various dignitaries, including the outgoing Ministers of Education, Culture, and Science, as well as Economic Affairs and Climate. A representative of the 4TU.Federation, whose support was indispensable in the establishment of NAE, will also address the audience. More information can be found on the NAE website.
