On the day of the CPS department's much-anticipated barbecue event, we unfortunately faced cloudy skies and a light rain shower. Nevertheless, we did not let this put us off. At 5 o'clock, the first guests started trickling into the Garden Room of the W&N, where they were warmly welcomed with prosecco.
They then made their way to the beautifully decorated garden, which was completely transformed in a summer style with vibrantly coloured garlands.
The turnout was very high and the atmosphere was excellent. Despite the weather, we did not get discouraged, as the beer was perfectly chilled and the satay sticks sizzled temptingly on the barbecue. There was much laughter, toasts were made and delicious food was eaten. Even the sun showed itself briefly, giving us all an extra touch of joy.
Like true partygoers, the last guests did not want to leave until the Garden Hall was officially closed. They then continued the party at De Blauwe Engel pub.
