After the publication of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report - a summary of the consequences of climate change based on academic papers - no one can deny it anymore, including universities and academics: climate change has a big impact on our society and ecosystems.
To stimulate the conversation about climate change and the role of the university and its (future) experts, there will be a reading marathon of this shocking IPCC report in the Main building of VU Amsterdam from Monday 30 January until Friday 3 February.
Scholars, students and employees will be reading the full report out loud non-stop, so that we as a university are faced with the climate crisis. In forty hours we review the current state of affairs. This way, we hope to stimulate the conversation on the climate, the future of our planet and the role of the university and its (future) experts in this.
