SBE first faculty in EU to receive dual AACSB accreditation

Share
15 February 2022
In February 2022, the School of Business and Economics (SBE) of VU Amsterdam became the first faculty in the European Union to receive dual AACSB Business and Accounting accreditation. With 188 business schools achieving dual accreditation, SBE is now among the top 2% of business schools worldwide.

AACSB is an American organisation that grants accreditations to business schools. The accreditation demonstrates the quality of SBE and means that SBE is now part of a prestigious international network of business schools.

Quality
Accreditation by AACSB is a public acknowledgement that a business school has achieved a high standard of education and research. Students are assured of high quality and continuous improvement in education. For academics, this means the guarantee that research is conducted at the highest level. Some international companies also recruit mainly from AACSB-accredited institutions.

Arjen van Witteloostuijn, SBE dean: "We are very proud to be the first and only on the European continent to obtain not only the AACSB Business but also the Accounting accreditation. It proves once again that SBE delivers excellent quality and that we have dedicated staff and students."

Network
With the accreditation, the School of Business and Economics is part of an international network of business schools. The networking opportunities this provides mean new possibilities for collaborations in the fields of educational development and research. International partnerships, such as joint educational programmes between several universities, also often require AACSB accreditation.
