World Tuberculosis Day Webinar 24 March 2026 13:00 - 14:00

Share
The Social Science and Health Innovation for Tuberculosis (SSHIFTB) network invites you to an upcoming webinar for this year’s World Tuberculosis Day 2026. SSHIFTB is a virtual global organization of scholars, learners and community representatives amplifying social science research and innovation to address the global Tuberculosis (TB) epidemic.

Together with the Athena Institute, SSHIFTB warmly invites you to join the annual World TB Day webinar titled: “TB and Planetary Health: Social Science Perspectives”. This years webinar will feature three speakers including Carol Devine (SeeChange Initiative), Karuna Devi Sagili (Independent Consultant), and Ellen Mitchell (Institute of Tropical Medicine).

  • Carol Devine will speak about SeeChange’s work with Inuit communities and partners in Nunavut responding to the disproportionate tuberculosis (TB) epidemic across Inuit Nunangat. By the 1950s, at least one-third of the Inuit population in Canada was infected with TB, and thousands were sent south for treatment, without consent.
  • Karuna Devi Sagili will look at the effect of climate change on TB risk factors and health system preparedness, with focus on India.
  • Ellen Mitchell will speak on studying air and amorphous risk. Ellen will share how her group is trying to co-design sustainable machines to remove bioaerosols using locally manufactured, simple tech. She will describe the challenges in honest co-design, from overcoming informational asymmetries to forging meetings of the minds.
