The neuromechanics of movement in relation to low back pain
The human body is far more adaptable to low back pain than often assumed. Human movement scientist Fangxin Xiao shows that even in the presence of spinal injury or muscle pain, overall movement patterns remain largely unchanged. Instead, the nervous system subtly adjusts the activity of specific back muscles to maintain stability. These insights could lead to improved rehabilitation strategies for people with low back pain.
