More than half of prisoners likely have acquired brain injury (ABI), and this condition still goes unnoticed far too often. Psychologist Sterre de Geus demonstrates this in her research on acquired brain injury and associated neurocognitive and behavioral aspects in forensic populations. De Geus demonstrates that this brain injury affects behavior, treatment, and the risk of relapse, and that early recognition and tailored treatment are essential for a safer society.
