Teaching migration law and looking to integrate the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) into your curriculum? Join this online IMRF side event, co-organized by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and University of Portland.
This session presents innovative academic initiatives that embed the GCM and its review processes into university teaching. It will showcase practical, replicable course models that combine substantive learning on global migration governance with hands-on student engagement, including simulations of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF). Students develop state reports, civil society inputs, and negotiation skills while working on real-world migration policy challenges.
Moderated by Professor Daniel Naujoks (Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs), the event features contributions from instructors and students, sharing insights and experiences from their courses. It also invites universities to pledge sustained integration of the GCM and IMRF into teaching, research, and outreach.
