Hope in times of societal and political unrest and polarization.
Many current societal issues can easily make us loose hope: the regime in Iran remains firmly in power, and the initial hope that once beckoned in Syria seem to has faded. Other conflict zones—such as Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Ukraine—might also appear hopeless. Furthermore, societal polarization and climate change challenge our vision of a hopeful future.
So how do you hold onto hope, where do you draw it from, and how do you stay resilient? What exactly is hope, and what purpose does it serve? To what extent can your community at VU Amsterdam support you in maintaining hope?
It is time for a meaningful conversation about hope—in 3D—with Pieter Dronkers (UvH) and Zakia Essanhaji (VU), featuring live music and more.
