We are happy to invite you to the ABRI Lunch Seminar Towards Analytical Pluralism in Digital Transformation Theory – A Case-Study of A 500-year old Mid-Sized Enterprise by Prof. Ralf Plattfaut (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany) organized by ABRI and the KIN Center for Digital Innovation.

The seminar will take place on Friday, April 24th, from 12:00 to 13:00 (HG-06A37).

Abstract
Digital transformation is one of the dominant themes in contemporary IS research which spurs many theoretical debates. These debates culminate in different viewpoints on digital transformation. In this talk, I will present current Research-in-Progress analyzing the digital transformation process of a German mid-sized Enterprise looking back on over 500 years of history. Drawing on two different theoretical perspectives on digital transformation, i.e., a synoptic, entity-orientation and a performative, flow-orientation one, we discuss the value of the different perspectives and show the importance of analytical pluralism to understand different sides of this socio-technological phenomenon.
 

Biography

Neva Bojovic is Associate Professor at KEDGE Business School (Bordeaux, France), in the Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability. Her research explores how organizations and entrepreneurs navigate complex institutional environments, with particular focus on stigmatization, identity, disruption, and strategic experimentation. She has published in the Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Ethics, Research Policy, and Social Science and Medicine, among others. Her current projects span gender and digital platforms, AI and disability representation, organizational responses to stigma, and academic resistance under authoritarianism. Before academia, Neva worked in media management, directing marketing for publications including Cosmopolitan, National Geographic, and Elle. She serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Business and Society (IABS) as Representative-at-Large. She holds a PhD from Grenoble Ecole de Management, where she was a Marie Curie Fellow (Horizon 2020). Her research on the FemTech sector was recognized with KEDGE's 1st Prize for Societal Impact of Research in 2026.
