The international symposium 'Be the Change', 14 May 2025, 12:30-18:00 at VU campus, aligns with UNESCO’s mission to promote peace, human dignity and sustainability.

The themes covered at this symposium are social justice, intercultural dialogue, peacebuilding, science for diplomacy, and the future of our online environments. After a plenary session, there will be poster presentations and parallel workshops.

The symposium is a meeting place of scientists, policymakers, local communities, UNESCO chairholders in the Netherlands, (refugee) students, and young people. Co-organisers are Netherlands Commission for UNESCO and AURORA, hosted by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Registration fee
The symposium registration fee is € 50. A fee waiver is available for participants who have volunteered in organizing this symposium.

Programme

The symposium will offer seven parallel sessions, led by distinguished workshop leaders and moderators.

UNESCO is the UN organization for science, education, culture and information and communication. Through international cooperation in these fields, UNESCO is working towards a more peaceful world. The Sustainable Development Goals form an important fundament to this mission.
