Proposal writing 101 12 June 2025 10:00 - 11:00

Share
Proposal Writing 101 is a practical 1-hour workshop designed to support early career researchers taking their first steps into the world of research funding.

We will explore the fundamentals of writing a strong, clear, and compelling proposal, focusing on structure, clarity, and what funders typically look for. To support our discussions, we’ll use the NWO Open Competition ENW (domain Science) XS call as a concrete example of a short-format funding scheme — but the lessons will apply more broadly.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the core components of a typical research funding proposal
  • Describe key features that make proposals competitive
  • Analyze a sample proposal for strengths and weaknesses
  • Draft a concise and compelling summary of their own research idea
  • Apply persuasive writing principles in the context of scientific research funding applications
