Cities are hosts to a myriad of (hidden) biodiversity. To count the number of species in cities worldwide, the City Nature Challenge has been launched. 400 cities have joined, including e.g. Leiden, Los Angeles, Sydney, Tokyo, Cape Town and of course Amsterdam!
This year we (Ecology and Evolution) are organising the challenge in Amsterdam, and we would appreciate your help! Even 1 hour of your time can help reach our goal – observing as many species in the city as possible.
How can you participate?
- Very easy: Upload your photos of urban species you encounter in Amsterdam from 25th of April to the 28th of April on waarneming.nl or via the app (ObsIdentify or Observation).
- Join us on fieldwork trips on 25 - 28 April
- Help identify the collected specimens 29 April – 4 May
- Let us know which species you can help identify or information on where to find species!
