The aim of this meeting at VU is to foster conversations and reflection about the roles and ethical responsibilities of academic cooperation in conflict situations. Throughout the last year and a half, we have seen public discourses around Gaza become increasingly polarised – including within academic environments. Against the grain of this ongoing trend of polarisation, we hope to offer a space for dialogue and exchange, as also inspired by similar approaches in prior ‘VU Fossil Free’ and ‘Cut the Ties’ dialogue events. The goal is not to take on one particular stance but to foster an open, inclusive and respectful conversation. In doing so, we hope to enhance moral support within the academic community and beyond and constructive solutions between Palestinians and Israelis.
Organised by Anthropocene Navigators, Connected World, Amsterdam Sustainability Institute, Campus Online, VU University Library, 3D Debate Center.
Please note that registration is only needed for the Dialogue session at 15:30.
