At ABRI, we are proud to have a community of ambitious PhD candidates and faculty members who aspire to become leading researchers in their field of expertise. The ABRI Excellence in Business Studies Awards aim to recognize the outstanding work of our talented junior colleagues and acknowledge their contribution to science, business, and society.
ABRI is soliciting nominations for the ABRI Excellence in Business Studies Awards for papers that have been published in 2024/2025 in two categories:
- Best PhD Student Paper Award
- Best Junior Faculty Paper Award
Eligibility Criteria
- Papers nominated for the Best PhD Student Paper award need to capture original work by a PhD student. While the nominated paper does not have to be part of the dissertation, the PhD student needs to be the lead contributor, which implies that the PhD student is listed as the first author.
- Papers nominated for the Best Junior Faculty Paper Award need to have an ABRI junior faculty member (Assistant Professor or Post-doc) as the lead contributor, which implies that they are listed as first author or corresponding author.
- Nominated papers need to have been published between 30.06.2024 and 23.06.2025 (publication in a journal issue as well as online-first publications will be considered).
- An open-access version of the nominated paper must be available on the research portal.
- For empirical papers based on original data, the dataset needs to be registered on the research portal.
Submission Procedure, Evaluation, and Award Announcement
- Submit your nomination (self-nominations are accepted) online by June 23, 2025, indicating if the research is nominated for the PhD Student or Junior Faculty Award.

- Prepare a brief motivation explaining why the nominated work deserves to be considered for the award in terms of:
- Originality (this aspect may include the novelty of a theoretical contribution, methodological innovation, or capturing of an original or understudied phenomenon/problem)
- Rigor (including both methodological as well as conceptual rigor)
- Utility (explaining why the insights provided by the work are relevant and have potential societal impact)
- A jury consisting of members from all ABRI tracks will evaluate the nominations.
- The winners of the award will be announced at the annual ABRI BBQ event.
