AI literacy is key to using AI productively while ensuring responsible application in education. During this VU information event on 24 April 2025, we will explore together what AI literacy should mean for our education.

We will showcase new initiatives being developed at both the central level and within faculties, enabling programmes and teachers to integrate them into the next academic year. The programme features inspiring practical examples from various parts of VU.

Who is it for?

This event is specifically designed for teachers, programme directors, and education professionals who want to understand how to incorporate AI literacy into their courses and curricula.

Programme

12:00 – 13:00 | Lunch
An informal lunch to connect with colleagues and discuss the event’s theme.

13:00 – 13:45 | Introduction
What does AI literacy mean for VU? We will discuss the core competencies that all students and teachers need and how these can be embedded in education.

13:45 – 14:00 | AI guidelines from IT
An overview of AI usage guidelines for VU staff, with a focus on IT support, responsible application within VU, and compliance perspectives.

14:00 – 14:30 | AI Literacy at the Faculty of Medicine and SpringLab VU
The Faculty of Medicine has already taken steps to incorporate AI literacy into learning objectives, activities, and curriculum materials. SpringLab VU will share how students help each other in this process. Join this session to learn from their experiences and engage in discussion.

14:30 – 15:00 | Break

15:00 – 15:15 | University Library (UB)
How can you help students critically engage with AI in information processing and academic research? Learn about the UB’s vision and the available workshops, resources, and tools.

15:15 – 15:30 | VU Centre for Teaching & Learning (VU CTL)
How can AI literacy be integrated into your teaching? Explore concrete materials, training sessions, courses, and support options for faculties and teachers.

15:30 – 16:00 | VU Academic Language Programme (ALP)
What does AI mean for academic writing skills? The Academic Language Programme will discuss AI’s impact on students’ learning and writing processes and how you can support them.

16:00 – 16:30 | Networking drinks
Share insights with colleagues and expand your professional network.
