We are thrilled to announce that in 2024, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam hosts the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for the first time. 3MT is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland, Australia. Currently, 3MT is held in over 900 universities in more than 85 countries.

3MT celebrates the innovative research of PhD candidates, enhancing their academic, presentation, and communication skills by challenging them to explain their work in just 3 minutes to a non-specialist audience.

"An 80,000 word PhD thesis would take 9 hours to present. Your time limit... 3 minutes."

Be there, enjoy the presentations and encourage the finalists.

  • People's Choice: €300

⏰ Doors open at 13:45. The event starts promptly at 14:00.
🚪 Please arrive on time, as access to the theater will be regulated, and doors will close once the event begins.
