In June we will organise the Science with Society Festival for the second year in a row! During this festival, residents, welfare organisations, policy makers, students (from both VU and HvA), teachers and scientists will collaborate and exchange to find fair and effective solutions to complex social issues within the city of Amsterdam.
The central festival will take place on June 19, 2024 in the OBA Oosterdok. The festival is all about entertainment, exchange, inspiration and interaction. Interdisciplinary teams of students have, for the past 5 months, conducted research into the themes of energy transition, community gardens, mental well-being and inclusive city. During the festival, 4 dialogue sessions around these themes are organised in which students discuss how their research within different places in the city have contributed to these themes, after which we engage in an interactive dialogue. There will also be an inspiration market and a theater event. The programme schedule can be found in the right column of this page. Are you also coming to the Science with Society Festival? In addition to the central festival, there will be activities throughout the month of June that take place in various OBA and neighborhood campus locations throughout Amsterdam. These activities aim to facilitate exchanges between residents, students, local organisations and policy makers. In Nieuw-West the focus is on the themes, women's participation, loneliness, community gardens and metal wellbeing regarding dementia. In South-East the focus is on the energy transition, in South on mental wellbeing of expats, and in North on social cohesion among young adults. Curious about additional details of these local activities? Or would you like to think about how we give meaning to these activities? Register here
This event is part of the science with society project.
