Share
On the occasion of the current exhibition Life of Plants , we invite you to join us on the Walking Safari tour, guided by the artist PJ Roggeband, extending his artistic narrative from the exhibition opening to the neighborhood of Buitenveldert. A unique interactive exploration that seamlessly blends nature and architecture together.

Embark on a captivating journey through the neighborhood of Buitenveldert with our 'Walking Safari' event! Uncover the hidden gems, such as one of the last works by Gerrit Rietveld, of this unique garden city, a visionary concept introduced by urban planner Cornelis van Eesteren. Delve into the historical roots of Buitenveldert, the last area in Amsterdam developed under the General Expansion Plan, and witness its transformation into the acclaimed 'ideal city.'

The Walking Safari is not just a stroll through history; it's a journey into the present and the future. Gain insights into the current state of Buitenveldert and its harmonious balance between nature and architecture. Explore how the evolving Zuidas and the preservation of nature intertwine, and learn about the pivotal role city trees play in shaping the landscape.

Join us as we explore the architectural wonders inspired by the 'Survey to Plan' methodology, crafted in collaboration with visionary urban planner Theo van Lohuizen. Discover the legacy of Jakoba Mulder, fondly known as 'Miss of the Forest,' and marvel at the special buildings and striking garden designs by renowned figures such as Mien Ruys, Aldo van Eyck, and Piet Oudolf.
