Palestinian Literature – ‘Voices from Gaza’ 18 June 2024 15:00 - 16:15

Would you like to delve into Palestinian literature?

Then come to the event ‘Voices from Gaza’ on 18 June from 15:00-16:15. Jurgen Maas from Uitgeverij Jurgen Maas, a publisher of translated Arabic literature from the Middle East and North Africa, will be joining us. He will share more about his work as a publisher and the series “Voices from Gaza,” which, in collaboration with translator Djûke Poppinga and Hope Foundation director Ingrid Rollema, aims to bring greater recognition to literature from Gaza.

We will also read passages together from recent publications of translated Palestinian titles:

  • Men in the Sun – Ghassan Kanafani
  • A Garden for Lost Limbs – Mahmoud Jouda
  • I Brought You a Hand – Ghayath Almadhoun

The discussion will be open-ended, allowing for questions and an interactive conversation. If you would like to read ahead or continue reading at home, the titles are available here: https://www.uitgeverijjurgenmaas.nl/.

This event will be held in Dutch.
