Bytes & Bites - AI in Programming 5 November 2024 16:00 - 18:00

Did you ever use an AI service such as ChatGPT in your programming routine? Maybe you use it to check or enhance your code; to create visualizations; get inspired about out-of-the-box suggestions; or simply use AI services to write code so you don't have to. However you use it, AI has become more than a hype and is here to stay in coding.

But do you also know the difference between tools and when to use what? How accurate is ChatGPT in writing code or when does it hallucinate? Is Copilote of any use at all and does the output quality vary between programming languages? Who is Claude? You certainly can ask ChatGPT about it - but luckily we can use a more scientific approach to investigate how to make the very best out of AI services in coding: we invited experts!

We are very excited that the VU AI club will join us this time. This is the time you can ask all your questions, try out different approaches, and test new tools. Our speaker Janni Harju from the VU AI club will join us for pizza and some AI coding. Don't miss out this highlight.

Prepare yourself to test out AI serrvices beyond ChatGPT. Students and university employees can get free access to GitHub Copilot. To set this up, you can follow the instructions here:

If you are looking for a cool tool for the session, follow these instructions for setting up the extension in Visual Studio Code.
