Cinderella, but completely different, American director Sean Baker (Tangerine) tells a fairytale story of an impossible love in his new film, but whether they lived happily ever after? This mix of drama and comedy had its world premiere at the last Cannes Film Festival - a successful premiere: Anora won the Golden Palm.
Anora, everyone calls her Ani, is a stripper and sex worker in Brooklyn. She speaks a few words of Russian and so one evening she gets a Russian client: 21-year-old Ivan. He is immediately deeply impressed by her and invites her for a private date at his villa. Not only could this be very lucrative for Ani, she also likes him a lot. And it gets even better: after a debauched week in Las Vegas, the two get married. Too good to be true? Unfortunately, yes, because Ivan turns out to be the son of a powerful oligarch and the latter is definitely not happy with his son's choice... With Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn.
