Darkness is a funny thing: while it can make us feel insecure, it can just as much bring about excitement – being out and about on the streets, can both be scary and exciting. Join us for an evening of reflecting on and connecting over darkness. At a special location on campus, we'll gather to read, meditate and talk. What do you think darkness has to offer us?
Following our podcast episode 'Embracing Darkness as a Friend,' we'll gather on Wednesday, November 29th, from 5:00 until 6:30 PM. We'll read Lauren Alleyne's piece “Elegy at the Edge of Infinity” (from ‘Solastalgia,’ edited by Paul Bogard), and discuss her ideas about the sky and the ocean – and how one can disappear in them. Then, we'll spend a short time meditating, to relate to our personal darknesses. And at last, we'll spend time discussing the topic of darkness.
