Business in Society (Joint Research Master’s programme)

Business in Society is an excellent joint degree programme of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). This VU-UvA joint Research Master's programme is taught by the best researchers in business at VU Amsterdam and UvA, and is dedicated to prepare for a career as a researcher in business administration and management.

Business in Society focuses on understanding the intricate relationships between business and society, which becomes increasingly necessary for addressing grand challenges like environmental and financial sustainability and for meeting our society’s request for ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility.

This exclusive programme provides students with an opportunity to work in close collaboration with top researchers from the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) at UvA and the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at VU Amsterdam. The aim of this joint effort is to educate a new generation of top-notch business and management researchers who have a profound grasp of the societal trends that are changing the face of business.

Graduating from this programme provides excellent prospects for continuing in a fully funded PhD position at one of our faculties.

The MSc Business in Society programme is a two-year, full-time programme, taught in English, and consists of 120 EC.
