Start new postgraduate programme: Corporate Restructuring

Special about this programme is its multidisciplinary approach. The programme was designed in collaboration with the Dutch Restructuring Association. In the programme legal, financial and operational aspects in all phases of the restructuring process are treated equally.  This multidisciplinary structure is also reflected in the targeted group of participants, which consists of professionals with at least 5 years of experience, with different professional backgrounds. For example, lawyers,  financial advisors, turnaround managers, bankers and investors can participate.

Programme director Herbert Rijken: "The revised bankruptcy law in the Netherlands as of January 2021 changes restructuring practice. This has triggered a desire among players in this practice to increase their knowledge and professionalism in the field of business restructuring. The added value of the programme is mainly about strengthening one's own practice through a multidisciplinary understanding of the entire restructuring process. Special attention will be paid to the necessary skills in crisis management, stakeholder management and managing the negotiation process. To achieve the ambitions of the programme we have brought together colleagues from the different disciplines.”

One of the main objectives of the Dutch Restructuring Association is to improve and broaden knowledge and understanding of corporate restructuring. The programme fits well with this objective. For the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, this new programme strengthens their portfolio of executive programmes in the financial and management discipline.
