Prof. Melanie Ehren was recently appointed to an advisory group, chaired by Oxford University on behalf of England’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) to evaluate the Resilience of England’s Qualification System
The purpose of the group is to help identify features of the qualifications system that make it vulnerable to failure, particularly in the face of disruptive events. The aim is to identify changes required for the system to be robust and resilient to the impact of highly unusual events, such as pandemics but also to be resilient to more frequent threats which nonetheless lead to ‘crises’ of the nature experienced every 3 to 5 years. The group commended its work in March 2022 with the aim of producing a diagnostic report in 9 to 12 months time.
