Dr. G.W. Noomen
Wim Noomen retired from VU Amsterdam in 2005. He had been associated with VU Amsterdam for over forty years. First as a student, later as a lecturer, professor and director. Between 1992 and 1996 he was Dean of the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences. From 1996 to 2005 Wim Noomen was President of the Executive Board of VU Amsterdam and later also of the joint VU-Windesheim board.
We remember him as someone who dedicated himself with heart and soul to VU Amsterdam and who meant a lot to VU Amsterdam. He was an excellent administrator with a clear understanding of business. Wim was loved as a director and as a human being. He knew what was going on in the workplace, had an eye for people and his door was always open.
We are grateful for what he has meant to this university. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We wish them much strength and advice in coping with this loss.
