Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam stands for a liveable and sustainable world. That is why sustainable is a priority area of the university. To give its sustainability ambition even more force, President of the Executive Board, Mirjam van Praag has signed the ISCN Charter.
With the signing of the Charter, VU Amsterdam joins the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN), a non-profit association of colleges and universities committed to sustainable development. VU Amsterdam is therefore, together with the University of Twente, Cambridge and Princeton, part of a global sustainability network of more than 80 universities from 30 countries.
The ISCN Sustainable Campus Charter reflects the guiding principles of the ISCN where organisations of research and higher education have a unique role to play in developing the technologies, strategies, citizens, and leaders required for a more sustainable future.
By taking this step, VU Amsterdam commits to integrating sustainability into all aspects of the university. It also endorses the network's 5 calls to action on institutional leadership and cooperation in sustainability.
