Students rate seven bachelor programmes best

11 November 2021
The Keuzegids (Choice Guide) Universities 2022 shows that students at VU Amsterdam are most satisfied with the Earth Sciences, Biology, Medicine bachelor programmes, Joint degree Theology, Joint degree Liberal Arts & Sciences, Joint degree Astronomy and physics and the Joint Programme Greek Language and Culture. These programmes are therefore among the best in the Netherlands and deserve the designation 'top study programme'.

In this year's Keuzegids, VU Amsterdam is in shared third place among broad classical universities.

The study programmes History, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sociology, Philosophy, Politics & Economics, Communication and Information Sciences, Econometrics and Operational Research, Media, Art, Design and Architecture all score four out of five stars.

Quality measurement on the basis of NSE21
The quality measurement of the Keuzegids is based on the student opinions from the National Student Survey (NSE) 2021. Due to the new survey design, the assessment themes (content, teachers, testing, preparation, career and atmosphere) are different than in previous years, making it a baseline measurement. The new rankings of the best-scoring universities are therefore not comparable with those of previous years.

Top performance
Mirjam van Praag, Rector a.i.: "I am enormously proud of this result. Our teachers and support staff have delivered a top performance, especially given the difficult circumstances due to COVID-19 and the high workload. We will celebrate the good results and of course make improvements where the NSE suggests. This feedback from students is valuable to us.”

In the ranking of classical universities, Utrecht University is in first place and Radboud University Nijmegen in second.  VU Amsterdam shares its third place with Leiden University and University of Groningen.
