This course gives 3rd and 4th year PhD students of the Faculty of Science of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA) and related interdisciplinary research institutes (IOZIs) the opportunity to think about the results of their PhD research in a societal context. This course also aims to stimulate them to take actions to transfer their knowledge beyond the academic world. During the course, the students will develop the tools they need to write a chapter in their PhD theses on knowledge transfer.
The subjects dealt with in this course are: valorization, the Amsterdam Entrepreneurial Ecosystem,entrepreneurial behavior, outreach, collaboration with external commercial partners, and intellectual property rights. The lecturers are experts in these fields of knowledge and come from both within and outside the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
The course starts on 1 November 2021 and ends on 1 April 2022. There will be (bi)weekly meetings, with mandatory presence, preparation and assignments.
The coordinators of this course are Prof. Dr. MBA Davide Iannuzzi (Faculty of Science) and Prof. Dr. Enno Masurel (School of Business and Economics), who have extensive experience in designing and teaching entrepreneurship courses both within and outside the domains of business and economics.
