Jardo wins the award for his development of 'Liion Power's Battery Life Extenders'. Li-ion batteries are everywhere: in your mobile phone, laptop and even your e-bike. The problem with these batteries is that they deteriorate slowly each time you charge them, and eventually need to be replaced. Lithium is becoming a scarce raw material and is extracted in an unsustainable way. The Jardo Liion Power startup is working on a solution to make Li-ion batteries last longer.
The contest 'The Most Innovative Student in the Netherlands' is organized annually by Quest and Quote. Jardo wins 5000 euros and a trip to Silicon Valley to further develop his idea. The prize was presented to Jardo by Marjan Minnesma, chairman of Urgenda.
