Davide Iannuzzi appointed Chief Impact Officer at VU Amsterdam

15 November 2021
The Executive Board is pleased to announce that as of 1 January 2022 Davide Iannuzzi will be appointed Chief Impact Officer (CImO) at VU Amsterdam.

In this role, he will be the strategic point of contact and driving force behind valorisation and the strengthening of the funding climate at VU Amsterdam. Iannuzzi will implement the VU Amsterdam strategy to further develop valorisation into an equal third core task next to education and research. He will link the ambitions and activities on three levels: Pan-Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam-wide and at faculty level.

Davide Iannuzzi, Professor of Experimental Physics, combines outstanding academic achievements in research and grant acquisition with a proven track record in valorisation initiatives. For example, he is currently director of the Demonstrator Lab Amsterdam. Iannuzzi is creative and entrepreneurial, has an excellent relationship with students and researchers and has strong external connections which he can tap into and use to expand the VU Amsterdam network.

Mirjam van Praag: “We are very pleased with Davide's willingness to lead the realisation of our ambitions on impact, entrepreneurship and external research grants. He is a pleasant person, a prominent scientist and entrepreneur with experience as a faculty member (Beta) with the 'valorisation' portfolio. We are convinced that he can, together with other parties, ensure that VU Amsterdam can create more social impact through education and research. We look forward to our collaboration.”

Davide Iannuzzi: “I am honoured to serve VU Amsterdam in this new role and feel the responsibility that entails. Our researchers deserve more opportunities to generate impact with the knowledge they create, and it will be my job to create the right conditions for this. I have the honour of working with fantastic colleagues within faculties and services who will provide the needed support. Together we will get this done!”

Davide Iannuzzi's appointment runs for 4 years with the possibility of renewal for a further 4 year.
