Van Bergen (Biological Psychology department) studies causes and consequences of individual differences in learning. In her research she integrates theories and methods from educational sciences, psychology, and genetics. She is particularly intrigued by the interplay between genetic and environmental influences. Elsje van Bergen is assistant professor at the Biological Psychology department, the Netherlands Twin Register and LEARN!. Before moving to the VU, she was a postdoctoral researcher in developmental psychology at the University of Oxford. Van Bergen holds a PhD in educational sciences from the University of Amsterdam.
