 p;</p><p>We are pleased to announce the date of our annual LaserLaB S
 ymposium, which will be held on <strong>Friday the 3</strong><strong>
 <sup>rd</sup></strong><strong> of July starting from 9:30 am onwards<
 /strong>. The Symposium will bring together members of the LaserLaB c
 ommunity for a day of scientific and social exchange.</p><p>This year
 , part of the programme will be specially dedicated to the memory of 
 <strong>Freek Ariese</strong>, who sadly passed away early January. F
 reek made many inspiring contributions to LaserLaB and the yearly Sym
 posium, and to honor that we will welcome several invited speakers wh
 o were close friends and collaborators of Freek.</p><p><em>You can re
 gister by using the white button on the blue registration bar bellow 
 on this page.</em></p><p><strong>Annual LaserLaB Best Paper Contest</
 strong> is open for our young researchers.<br>Eligibility rules for t
 his contest are:<br>• Each young scientist with some appointment at
  LaserLaB may submit one scientific paper of which he/she is the firs
 t author and the main contributor. We encourage the submission of pap
 ers from high and average impact journals alike.<br>• As young scie
 ntists qualify: PhD students (AIO’s, OIO's), Master students, Europ
 ean visiting students, and postdocs.<br>• Submitted papers must hav
 e been accepted for publication between June 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026
 .<br>• The winner will be present at the award ceremony to claim hi
 s/her prize.<br>• Each paper needs to be accompanied by a simple an
 d short (single page A4) cover letter written by the candidate. This 
 letter should&nbsp;very briefly&nbsp;explain the importance of the pa
 per for his/her field of research and highlighting the achieved break
 through.</p><p>Emphasis in the cover letter should be mostly given on
  the scientific creativity and persistence of<strong>&nbsp;</strong>t
 he individual contestant<strong>&nbsp;</strong>leading to the publica
 tion<strong>.<br></strong>The cover letter should be comprehensible t
 o people outside the paper’s specific field of research. The qualit
 y of the cover letter will be an important factor in the jury’s jud
 icial process. Jury members this year are Peter Kraus, Volha Chukhuts
