Renders researches how we can build a healthy society in which health

DESCRIPTION:
From individual actions to integrated working: buildi
ng health from family, school, and neighborhood
Professor of Hea
lth Sciences Carry Renders researches how we can build a healthy soci
ety in which healthy living is not dependent on chance, income, or zi
p code. In her inaugural lecture, she demonstrates that obesity and h
ealth disparities arise from an interplay of living environment, soci
al norms, policy, and economic incentives. Therefore, she chooses int
egrated working: collaborating across sectors and levels to create co
nditions that facilitate healthy living. With three key points – en
gagement, connection, and flexibility – Renders focuses on strength
ening healthy living environments around family, school, and neighbor
hood, strengthening community strength and health literacy, and learn
ing and adapting through research. She examines health and behavioral
outcomes, but places particular emphasis on the change process: what
works, for whom, and why, how to improve processes, and how measures
can reinforce and sustain each other. Read more in the <a data-item-
