Lung cancer treatment is becoming increasingly complex. N ew forms of immunotherapy, targeted agents, and radiation are increas ingly being combined. Professor of Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncolog y Idris Bahce is investigating how such multimodal therapies can enha nce each other and for which patients this combination truly works. M olecular imaging plays a supporting role in this process: PET scans h elp us better understand how tumors and immune cells respond to treat ment.
Bahce collaborates with a broad network of disciplines, f rom pulmonologists to radiation therapists, lung surgeons, nuclear me dicine physicians, and pathologists, on studies in which treatment an d imaging go hand in hand. In his inaugural lecture, he will demonstr ate how close collaboration between disciplines can lead to better, m ore personalized care for people with lung cancer.
