Within the fram ework of the International Rumi Year 2023 we are organizing an earthq uake relief support event with Esin Çelebi Bayru, the 22nd generatio n granddaughter of Rumi organized by the International Mevlana Founda tion The Netherlands, VU Diversity Office, Student Association Anatol ia, Yunus Emre Institute and in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum. p>

It is the Internation al Rumi Year 2023. This year we commemorate that 750 years ago Rumi l eft this world. His universal message, teachings, and poetry are more valid and necessary than ever before in this age. It is a great sour ce of hope and inspiration for mankind to build bridges across genera tions, countries, cultures, religions, and disciplines. We are facing multiple crises globally, from earthquakes to the climate crisis, to wars and the pandemic. What can we learn from the universal message and teachings of Rumi in dealing with the crises of our time, resilie nce, compassion, solidarity, and unity?
Everything that hap pens in life presents a lesson to us; as long as we can see. It is a path to finding knowledge on how to balance the inner and outer aspec ts of our lives. Esin Çelebi Bayru is the 22nd generation granddaughter of Rumi and is coming to The Nethe rlands. She is the vice president of the International Mevlana Founda tion. Esin Çelebi recently published the book ‘Love is Something B eautiful’ in which she portrays her experiences with her rich famil y heritage through the history of the Mevlevi tradition. Her message is to pass the teachings and heritage on to future generations.
We will gather in the auditorium of VU University in Amsterdam to be in dialogue with Esin Çelebi about responding to the challeng es in our lives as learning opportunities and to find a sense of mean ing and purpose. There will be an opportunity for young people to ask questions to her and her daughter Azra Kumcuoğlu.
After wards, we have an open space to continue the conversation together wi th some bites and drinks. You are very much welcome to join us!
