, hosted by the Ethnographic Impact Lab of the Department of Social a
nd Cultural Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
This year’s symposium brings together anthropologists, alumni, stu
dents, and societal partners to reflect on the role of anthropology i
n a rapidly changing world. The afternoon opens with remarks by repre
sentatives of the Anthropology department. Next, we engage in convers
ation between anthropologists and stakeholders, exploring how anthrop
ological knowledge travels beyond academia and contributes to society
in meaningful ways. The symposium concludes with a collective discus
sion on the future of stakeholder research and public anthropology in
a context of changing funding landscapes, institutional restructurin
g, and increasing pressures on socially engaged work. You are all inv
