SUMMARY:Information Literacy 1: what is academic literature?

ture during this workshop. You will learn what to look for when searc
hing for (academic) information online, how to assess the value of a
source, and in what ways "biases" can influence method and interpreta
tions.
This beginner's course is a must for anyone without any
knowledge of academic literature. Description: this is an entry-leve
l workshop. A logical follow-up is Module 2, where you will learn to
set up a search strategy.
You will learn to:
- make
reasoned choices when searching for information;
- recognize
the values of (academic) information;
- formulate an informed
opinion about the accessibility of information to the public;
- think about how your own biases can influence method and interpre
tation
