KINTalk: From Incidents to Innovation. UWV’s Cyber Defence Center 20 November 2025 17:15 - 19:00

Share
Nicholas Fredriksz, Manager Security Testing at UWV’s Cyber Defence Center, offers an inside look at the organization that protects one of the most frequently visited government websites in the Netherlands.

With millions of clients and companies depending on its services, UWV (Dutch Benefits Agency) handles billions of log events every day and manages over 60,000 endpoints. Working at the Cyber Defence Center (CDC) means playing in the Champions League of security.

But security doesn’t stop at detection and response. To truly be resilient, it’s essential to shift left—to move closer to the source and act earlier in the process. That’s why the CDC was formed out of UWV’s Security Operations Center: to not only fight incidents but also prevent vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.Within the CDC, multiple disciplines work hand in hand, from vulnerability management and detection engineering to security testing.

In this talk, Nicholas Fredriksz, Manager Security Testing, will share how the CDC was founded, how it has evolved, and what daily operations look like inside UWV’s Cyber Defence Center.

Every KINTalk is a valuable moment where academics and practitioners meet, great opportunity to connect with others and build professional relationships. The talk will conclude with a networking session — a chance to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore potential collaborations over drinks and snacks.

Register for the KINTalk by November 17 to secure your spot.
