In three sessions we will zoom in on the life of one of the most interesting people from the 20th century, Elaine Brown. By reading her autobiography we will learn about her journey in discovering her black identity and how she helped to shape the political and communal landscape of various cities in the United States. In doing so creating programs that would help numerous children for generations to come. Artists such as Tupac Shakur and Anderson Paak have been fed by the breakfast programs that she has helped design.
Each session will focus on a different aspect of her life and of the hardships she, or the black community she was a part of, was facing. Every story she tells touches upon the themes of autonomy, feminism, intersectionality, and liberation.
