Flexible working

Last updated on 21 November 2022
Flexible workplaces - also known as flex workplaces - are VDU workplaces that two or more employees use at different times. In order to be able to work on a flexible workplace in a healthy and favorable working position, you must be able to set it up properly.

Setting up flexible workspace

With a flexible workplace you must be able to set the following things:

  • the chair: seat height, seat depth, backrest height, armrest width and height
  • the worktop height
  • height and distance to the screen (laptop)

That is why a flexible workplace must meet the following conditions:

  • the office chair must comply with NPR 1813. If the office chair meets this standard, 95% of the employees can sit properly. The armrests must be adjustable in height and width, just like the height of the seat, seat depth and lumbar support.
  • you must be able to easily set the table with a spindle or electrical control. You must be able to adjust a table to your height, for an optimal working position.
  • there must be a continuously height-adjustable monitor, possibly on a monitor arm.
  • the individual workplace must be placed as much as possible transversely to the window, at least 1.5 meters from the window and not against the light, in order to prevent too high luminance ratios.
