Time for personal development and wellbeing

Are you looking forward to a few days of rest and space for yourself at a beautiful location in nature? Do you feel the need to take some distance from your daily (teaching) practice? To reflect on yourself and the contribution you make to education and society? To get new energy and inspiration together with colleagues and broaden your horizon? To grow on a personal level and increase your impact?

The VU strives to be a positive and inclusive educational culture that builds on the unique talents of everyone. In strong teams we offer education from a place of flourishing and resilience so that we can translate these qualities to our students and prepare them well for the future. As such it important to for us make space for our personal development and wellbeing.

The VU Education Retreat is for all VU staff who contribute to education: to relax, reflect and (re)connect with their role. Two days of personal and professional development at a beautiful location in nature together with colleagues.

What did participants say about their experiences?

  •  "When you take the time and space you come to new insights and I had that space during the retreat to be able to map out certain things, both professionally and personally.”
  • "My goals have become clear in this retreat which continues to benefit me. In addition, we were given tools and guidance for meditation to be able to apply this in your everyday life."
  • “Very recently I have implemented things from the retreat, such as adjusting my working hours. In addition, I now try to implement the methods of the retreat in my own meetings as well, to take that rest and space to come to new insights."

Target Group
This education retreat is offered to everyone who contributes to education at the VU Amsterdam, such as education and programme directors, programme and course coordinators, lecturers, study advisors, psychologists, student assistants, and support staff.

Depending on the participants, the programme will be offered in English or Dutch.
