Managing cash is one of the core responsibilities of a treasurer. It implies that a company at all times must have sufficient balances available to meet its obligations.

The required bank balances should be managed efficiently by minimizing external debt and optimizing internal funding by means of cash pooling. Managing cash also means that payments and collections are done in the most efficient and cost effective way by selecting the most appropriate payment and collection instruments. That doesn’t stop at reviewing what banks can offer but also should include new instruments like block chain and fin tech solutions.
