This training is designed to be better prepared for your PhD defense

Course Description

Course objectives:

  • Be prepared for the last steps of your PhD project
  • Get familiar with the Aula stage
  • Learn how to present your laymen’s talk and

Contents:

The course will consist of 3 meetings. In order to gain 0.5 EC you should attend all sessions, organize a mock defense and make a VLOG/blog/podscast/picture story/cartoon/poster/presentation/other form of diary about your experiences during the process of finishing up to share online for those who come after you

Session 2: Meet the Aula (open for all VU PhD candidates): 9 December 2021, 18:00-20:00, Aula

Session 3: Taking your Stage (for FSS PhD’s only) by Rosa Evans Knaup: Tba, evening, Aula or Auditorium

Session 4: Mock defense, To be planned by your paranymphs

Make a VLOG/blog/podscast/picture story/cartoon/poster/presentation/other form of diary about your experiences during the process of finishing up to share online for those who come after you. In order to gain 0.5 EC, you should publish this (on the Socializing Science Blog or elsewhere) or gave a presentation to other PhD candidates. Date: Before handing in your manuscript for the reading committee/in Hora Finita.
