CLUE+ researchers jointly lead and participate in 70+ funded research studies, ranging from individual projects to consortium grants.

European grants

Over the years, we have attracted several large European grants. Most notably, we have been selected to investigate the role of heritage in landscape planning as part of the Marie Curie Innovative Training Network for the HERILAND project. We are also involved in TERRANOVA, which focuses on the history of landscapes in relation to climate change.

NWO

Many CLUE+ projects are funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), one of the most important science funding bodies in the Netherlands. Among our current projects is Pressing Matter, which explores the capacity ‘colonial objects’ might have in supporting societal reconciliation with the colonial past and those it affects to this day.

What Went Into the Melting Pot is another NWO-funded project which researches the contributions of Greek migrants and local inhabitants to the so-called Greek colonisation in Italy during the period 800-550 BCE.

CLUE+ researchers have also been quite successful in attracting NWO funding for PhDs in the Humanities, such as Minke Walda’s research on urban decline during the 18th century in North Holland and Femke Siebesma-Mannens’ research into linguistic variations in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
