Borrowing

Books can only be borrowed with a membership pass. Students can activate there student card as their membership pass at the Library Service Desk. 
How to find a document 

Start by Searching for the document using LibSearch.
LibSearch offers you access to hard copy and digital library collections worldwide. All items available at the VU Library and that are digitally accessible for students and employees are indicated as ‘Held by VU Library’. In this case hard copy materials can be reserved online.   

Plan your visit
Due to the current Covid measures, all the VU open stack collections are closed. This means that any books you may want to borrow must be reserved online beforehand.  

Loan periods
The standard loan period for most books is 4 weeks, which can be extended for a maximum of 5 times. 
Course literature can only be borrowed for a maximum of 1 day. A fine of €2,50,- per day will be charged for late returns. 
Special collections, archives and reference works can be consulted in the University library by appointment only. 

InterLibrary Loans

Any documents not available at the VU library’s own collection can be ordered for a fee by clicking on ‘request item through InterLibray Loan’.
