Academic integrity is high on the agendas of Dutch universities. Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and VU Medical Center work hard to ensure that all their academic staff have a good knowledge of the national VSNU Code of Conduct and remain informed of the latest developments regarding academic integrity policy. Despite this, situations can still arise where academic integrity seems to have been compromised.
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit) and VU Medical Center (VUmc) subscribe to the rules as set out by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and elaborated by the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU). In a European context, the European Science Foundation (ESF) and All European Academies (ALLEA) have set out their academic integrity rules and principles in an English-language policy document.
- VSNU Academic Integrity Code of Conduct: Nederlandse Gedragscode Wetenschapsbeoefening
- KNAW: Notitie Wetenschappelijke Integriteit
- The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity - ALLEA
Vrije Universiteit and VUmc operate a joint policy for the handling of academic integrity complaints. This complaints procedure outlines the various steps to be taken in the event of a complaint, the officers who play a role in this procedure and what you can expect once a complaint has been submitted.
